Pentagon restores Jackie Robinson webpage after removing it

The Defense Department says it was a mistake to remove its webpage dedicated to Jackie Robinson yesterday (WED). Although the department is under a Trump Administration directive to delete DEI content…a Pentagon spokesman says it was beyond that guidance to remove the Jackie Robinson webpage, honoring the World War 2 veteran who broke baseball’s color barrier. The page has since been restored, including information about his legal encounters with segregation during Army service as a 2nd Lieutenant, an experience which influenced the Dodger’s legendary president Branch Rickey to select Robinson for his heroic journey to withstand racism in integrating the National pastime.

Thousands of HHS workers being laid off at NIH, FDA

Thousands of employees in the government’s Health and Human Services Department are being laid off.
The layoffs are expected to affect up to 10-thousand people, many of whom weren’t notified until they showed up for work Tuesday morning and couldn’t access their buildings. The cuts include researchers, scientists, doctors, support staff, and senior leaders at the National Institutes of Health, the Food and Drug Administration, and other agencies. Some senior-level NIH employees in the DC area were offered a possible transfer to Alaska and were given 48 hours to respond.

A House Republican Calls for Safeguards on Defense Calls

WASHINGTON – A House Republican calls for ‘safeguards’ to be used after a war plan text chat was leaked to the public. Details from correspondent Bernie Bennett.

VERBATIM: GOP Congressman Mike Lawler of New York called for “safeguards” to be implemented to ensure the leaking of war plans doesn’t happen again after a journalist was included in a Signal group chat discussing them.

Lawler said Monday in a post on the social platform X, “Classified information should not be transmitted on unsecured channels – and certainly not to those without security clearances, including reporters. Period.”

National Security Council spokesperson Brian Hughes confirmed the messages in the chat appear to be “authentic,” adding that the success of the attack on the Houthis shows there were no threats to U.S. troops or national security.

A new poll tracks religious switching around the world

VERBATIM:  The Pew Research Center has been studying the phenomenon of people leaving the faith they were brought up in for a different belief system — or none at all.  Religious switching is MOST prevalent in South Korea, where HALF of adults have abandoned the faith of their youth.  In the U.S., 28% have done so.  The Pew report also indicates that MOST of the people who switch faiths are swapping the religion they grew up with for NO religion.  MH SRN NEWS.
