VERBATIM: China’s National Bureau of Statistics says the official Purchasing Managers’ Index, based on a survey of factory managers, slipped to 50.1 from 50.3 in November. It was the third straight monthly reading above 50, a level that indicates an expansion of manufacturing activity. View More »Trump offers buyouts to fed workers who resign by Feb. 6
The White House is offering buyouts to all federal employees who leave their jobs by the end of next week. In his push to cut the size of the federal workforce, President Trump is dangling seven months of salary and benefits in front of any government worker who resigns by February 6. According to a Trump administration memo, the buyout offer is described as a “dignified, fair departure.” Anyone who participates in the deferred resignation program will retain all pay and benefits until the end of September.

View More »Ramaswamy eyes run for Ohio Governor
COLUMBUS, Ohio (AP) – Fresh off of his unexpected departure from President Donald Trump’s Department of Government Efficiency, Vivek Ramaswamy has set his sights on becoming governor of Ohio, his home state.
He’s lined up strategists and plans to announce his run as soon as this week. Ramaswamy will try to follow the paths of Vice President JD Vance and Ohio Sen. Bernie Moreno. Those political newcomers won Senate seats with the help of Trump’s endorsement. Ramaswamy’s plans have complicated things for a deep bench of veteran Republican politicians who also may aspire to succeed term-limited Gov. Mike DeWine.
