WASHINGTON (Reuters) - The Senate Commerce, Science and Transportation Committee approved the nominations of Wilbur Ross as commerce secretary and Elaine Chao as transportation secretary on voice votes on Tuesday, advancing them to the full Senate.

There were no objections on the panel, which Republicans control by a single vote, to Ross, a 79-year-old billionaire investor, nor to Chao, a veteran government administrator who served as labor secretary under former president George W. Bush.
