SARAJEVO, Bosnia-Herzegovina (AP) — Bosnian police have arrested eight former Bosnian Serb soldiers and policemen suspected of illegally detaining, torturing and then killing nearly 120 non-Serb civilians in northern Bosnia during the country's bloody 1992-95 war.

The state prosecution said Tuesday the eight men are accused of crimes against humanity. Their victims were found in several mass graves around the town of Prijedor after the Bosnian war. During the execution of the 120 victims — 15 of them minors — in the summer of 1992, a few people survived. Prosecutors say their testimonies led to the indictment.

During the Bosnian war, Christian Orthodox Serbs expelled or killed Muslim Bosnians and Catholic Croats from areas they took control of, aiming to create an ethnically pure Serb state that they hoped to annex with neighboring Serbia.
