KABUL (Reuters) - Afghan President Ashraf Ghani on Monday instructed his cabinet ministers to remain in their jobs and asked the Supreme Court to intervene after parliament sacked six ministers citing poor performance.
Ghani's decision to reverse parliament's decisions could further widen the political gap between his unity government and the legislature, which is seeking to oust more ministers in the coming days.
"Until the ruling of the Supreme Court, all the ministers should remain in their positions," Ghani said in a statement after holding a special cabinet meeting.
In the last three days, parliament has voted to dismiss six cabinet ministers, including the minister of foreign affairs, citing poor performance and budgetary issues.
