President-elect Trump has been formally sentenced without penalty in his New York criminal case. The sentencing hearing took place here at the New York Criminal Court with Donald Trump appearing by video from Florida. His sentence of an unconditional discharge means no jail time, fines, or probation. Yet it results in Trump becoming the first president or president-elect who is a felon. During the hearing, the judge defended the court proceedings, but Trump lashed out at prosecutors and said his criminal trial and conviction was “a very terrible experience.”

High Hopes for 2025

Wed, Jan 1, 2025 at 7:07 pm

Although 2024 didn’t rate very high in most Americans’ estimation, a new poll suggests that a majority expect much better in 2025. Details on this from reporter Bernie Bennett.

VERBATIM: The latest Rasmussen Reports national telephone and online survey finds that just five percent (5%) of American Adults rate 2024 one of the best years ever. Eleven percent (11%) think it was an excellent year and 20% rate 2024 a good year. However, 34% of Americans give 2024 a poor rating. The 36% who rate 2024 at least a good year is slightly up from last year, when 34% said the same about 2023.

Barely half the U.S. adult population is married

VERBATIM:  The latest numbers from the Pew Research Center reveal that just 51% of Americans are married — and if you think everybody else is cohabitating you would be WRONG.  Just seven percent of adults are doing that.  Which means that 42% of the grown-up population is single — a percentage unmatched in all of U.S. history.  Women are actually more likely than men to be unpartnered as Pew puts it — 44% versus 40%.  MH RN NEWS.
