NEW YORK (Reuters) - A U.S. federal judge ruled on Friday that Democratic Party presidential candidate Hillary Clinton did not need to give sworn testimony in a lawsuit concerning her use of an unauthorized private email system for her work as U.S. secretary of state.

Clinton must instead respond in writing to questions submitted by Judicial Watch, a conservative watchdog group suing the Department of State, Judge Emmet Sullivan ruled in an order filed in the U.S. District Court in Washington.
