DELTONA, Fla. (AP) — A Florida man has been taken into custody after authorities say he shot his wife before firing at deputies.
The Volusia County Sheriff's Office said in a news release that 26-year-old Emmanuel Rosado of Deltona was arrested and charged with three counts of first-degree attempted murder in connection with Sunday's incident.
Spokesman Gary Davidson says Rosado's wife had been trying to separate from her husband when he went to a home where she was, locking her inside. Three children were also inside the house.
Chief Deputy Eric Dietrich says responding authorities heard gunshots fired inside the home and in the direction of deputies, who returned fire. Rosado wasn't hit.
Rosado's wife was taken to the hospital for a gunshot wound to her leg.
It's unclear if Rosado has an attorney.
