BUENOS AIRES (Reuters) - Gerardo Martino, the coach of Argentina's national soccer team, has resigned, local media reported on Tuesday, days after the country lost to Chile in the regional Copa America tournament final.

Reuters could not immediately reach Argentina's AFA soccer organization for comment.

The team's star player, Lionel Messi, quit the national team after the game, prompting hundreds of his fans to protest in the rain over the weekend.
