CLEVELAND (AP) — Republican officials say Cleveland's Quicken Loans Arena will be ready for next month's Republican National Convention despite having only four weeks to prepare because of the Cleveland Cavaliers' NBA title run.
The GOP's Committee on Arrangements allowed reporters and cameras inside the arena Tuesday for a glimpse of the progress that's been made three weeks before the start of the convention.
Jeff Larson, head of the arrangements committee, says the GOP has been working cooperatively with the campaign staff of presumptive presidential nominee Donald Trump on the stage design and other details.
Larson says Trump will accept the nomination July 21 inside the arena and not at a larger venue like Cleveland Browns Stadium. Larson says the shortest preparation period for a convention venue previously was five weeks.
