The 56-44 roll call Monday by which the Senate rejected legislation that would have closed the gun show loophole and expanded background checks. The measure required 60 votes to pass.

A "yes" vote is a vote to pass the measure.

Voting yes were 41 Democrats, 1 Republican and 2 independents.

Voting no were 3 Democrats and 53 Republicans.
