BEIJING (Reuters) - China has lodged diplomatic representations with the United States over a planned meeting between U.S. President Barack Obama and the Dalai Lama at the White House on Wednesday, the Foreign Ministry said.

Ministry spokesman Lu Kang made the remarks at a regular briefing on Wednesday. China considers the exiled Tibetan Buddhist spiritual leader a dangerous separatist and Lu added the meeting would send the wrong message to "separatist forces".

Any attempt to take advantage of Tibet issues and undermine stability would not succeed, Lu said.
