SYRACUSE, N.Y. (AP) — A woman who says she was forced to have sex with an upstate New York police officer while reporting her daughter missing has filed a lawsuit.
The suit filed earlier this month says Syracuse Officer Chester Thompson forced the woman to have sex after showing up to take the report on Valentine's Day last year.
Thompson has said the sex with that woman and another one was consensual. He has since left the force and has been sentenced to probation after pleading guilty to official misconduct.
Syracuse.com reports a prosecutor said the woman "probably felt intimidated," but that the encounter didn't meet the legal requirements for a rape charge.
The lawsuit also names Syracuse and its police chief as defendants.
The city didn't immediately respond to a request for comment.
