PHOENIX (Reuters) - Maricopa County Sheriff Joe Arpaio was held in civil contempt on Friday after a federal judge found that he violated court orders stemming from a 2007 racial profiling case.

The case centers on allegations that Arpaio, who has courted controversy in the past with his anti-illegal immigration tactics, and his office racially profiled Latino drivers during traffic stops.
