MINNEAPOLIS (AP) — Police have arrested about two-dozen demonstrators for blocking light-rail trains leading to Target Field for the Minnesota Twins' home opener.
Metro Transit spokesman Drew Kerr says transit officers arrested 25 protesters Monday afternoon for trespassing and interfering with public transportation.
The demonstrators were being bused to the Hennepin County Jail.
The protesters stepped in front of a moving train that was traveling into Target Field Station. Kerr says police had warned protesters three times before arrests began.
Black Lives Matter activists say they were protesting a prosecutor's decision last month not to charge two Minneapolis police officers involved in the fatal shooting of a 24-year-old black man, Jamar Clark.
The protest disrupted train service for about an hour.
