CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. (AP) — The woman who said she was gang-raped at a University of Virginia fraternity house and was the centerpiece of a now-retracted Rolling Stone article must answer attorneys' questions in a defamation lawsuit.
U.S. District Judge Glen E. Conrad says the student identified as "Jackie" in the article is scheduled for a deposition Thursday at an undisclosed location.
Jackie has fiercely resisted attempts to answer questions about claims she was gang raped. University administrator Nicole Eramo sued the magazine and the author, saying the article cast Eramo as "chief villain."
Eramo is seeking to depose Jackie in a $7.5 million defamation lawsuit filed against Rolling Stone.
After the Rolling Stone piece was published, questions were raised about Jackie's story.
