MADISON, Wis. (AP) — The national conservative group funded by Charles and David Koch is launching a $1.1 million television ad campaign in Wisconsin in support of Republican Sen. Ron Johnson as he faces a tough re-election fight.
The biographical ad from Americans for Prosperity will begin airing on broadcast and cable television in Wisconsin starting Wednesday.
Johnson faces Democrat Russ Feingold in a rematch of their 2010 race.
Feingold's spokesman Michael Tyler said in a statement Monday that Johnson is letting the Koch-funded group of "billionaires and corporate special interests" introduce Johnson to voters with the first ad in the race on his behalf.
Johnson spokesman Brian Reisinger noted that other outside groups are running ads on behalf of Feingold.
