HARRISBURG, Pa. (AP) — A 23-year-old Ukrainian man accused of faking his age while attending a Pennsylvania high school and having sex with an underage girl has one fewer charge against him, but he's still waiting to learn if his bail will be reduced.
A judge in the Harrisburg suburbs on Thursday dropped an identity theft charge against Artur Samarin but decided there was enough evidence to send a count of unsworn falsification to county court for trial.
Samarin still awaits a preliminary hearing on other charges of theft, identity theft, conspiracy, tampering with public records, statutory sexual assault and corruption of minors.
He's telling reporters he just wants to have a better life.
In a separate proceeding, a county judge deferred consideration of Samarin's request to lower his $240,000 bail.
