GAINESVILLE, Fla. (AP) — Authorities say a Florida gun rights supporter accidentally shot by her 4-year-old son remains hospitalized.
Capt. Joseph Wells of the Putnam County Sheriff's Office says Jamie Gilt is too heavily medicated to speak with investigators.
Wells tells The Gainesville Sun (http://bit.ly/1Rkbzcp ) Gilt is improving and deputies check on her progress daily.
Gilt was shot March 8 while driving with her son. According to the sheriff's office, the boy was in the backseat and got ahold of a loaded gun that was in the vehicle. The shot went through Gilt's seat and struck her in the back. The boy wasn't injured.
