BALTIMORE (AP) — A man who was shot by Baltimore police has been charged with first-degree murder in an unrelated crime allegedly committed hours earlier.
Police Commissioner Kevin Davis said at a news conference Wednesday that 24-year-old Keith Davis Jr. is charged in the shooting death of 22-year-old Kevin Jones just before 5 a.m. on June 7.
In the second incident later the same day, police believed Keith Davis robbed a hack driver and a police officer chased him into a garage. They said Keith Davis brandished a gun, and officers shot him, hitting him three times, at least once in the face. A jury acquitted him last week of assault in that incident, convicting him only on a gun charge.
LaToya Francis-Williams, one of Keith Davis' lawyers, says Davis didn't kill Jones.
