(Reuters) - The last of Louisiana's "Angola Three" inmates, who served some four decades in solitary confinement, was to be released on Friday after pleading no contest to manslaughter in a prison guard's 1972 death, local media reported.

Albert Woodfox, 69, is the last of three black prisoners whose lengthy stays in solitary confinement at the Louisiana State Penitentiary in Angola drew international condemnation.

Woodfox was to be released shortly from the West Feliciana Parish jail, the Advocate newspaper reported.
