DAVENPORT, Iowa (AP) — Lee Enterprises has elected Kevin Mowbray the president and chief executive officer as part of a succession plan that moves former CEO Mary Junck to executive chairman of the newspaper publisher's board.
The Davenport-based company announced the moves Wednesday. The plan was initially disclosed in December.
Mowbray, who is 54, has been executive vice president and chief operating officer.
Junck, who is 68, has served as president since 2000, CEO since 2001 and board chairman since 2002.
The company says she'll serve as Mowbray's mentor and continue board leadership focusing on strategic direction, financial matters and growth initiatives.
Lee Enterprises operates 46 daily newspapers, including the St. Louis Post-Dispatch, and has a joint interest in four others. It also operates digital products and nearly 300 specialty publications in 22 states.
