BATON ROUGE, La. (AP) — The second of two Baton Rouge police officers wounded during a gunbattle has been released from an area hospital.
Baton Rouge Police spokesman Sgt. Don Coppola says patrol officer Theodore Smith III was released from the hospital on Monday after being treated for a stomach wound.
Sean Garic, the other officer wounded in Saturday's shooting, was released from the hospital on Sunday.
The suspect in the shooting, 22-year-old Calvin Smith, died at the same hospital late Saturday.
Theodore Smith has worked for Baton Rouge police since August 2011 and Garic since February 2013.
Police responded to a domestic disturbance before dawn Saturday, and authorities say Calvin Smith sped off in a car when they arrived. After a chase, police say Smith jumped out and shot at the two officers with a rifle.
