(Reuters) - Two Louisiana police officers were shot and wounded early on Saturday when a suspect opened fire on them during a chase, local media reported, and both are expected to survive.
A bullet grazed the head of one Baton Rouge police officer, and the other was struck in the side, The Advocate newspaper reported.
The incident occurred around 5:30 a.m. when the officers responded to a call concerning property damage, local media reported. The suspect fled in a vehicle and police chased him.
The suspect ultimately opened fire with a semi-automatic rifle, according to local reports. The suspect, also wounded, was hospitalized in critical condition, The Advocate reported.
Officials at the Baton Rouge Police Department could not be reached for immediate comment.
