NEW LONDON, Conn. (AP) — The U.S. Coast Guard Academy is investigating allegations that a group of cadets cheated on online quizzes.
Academy spokesman David Santos told The Day of New London (bit.ly/20MbRDN) that an investigation into the alleged cheating at the military academy in New London, Connecticut, has been ongoing for several weeks. Cheating would be a violation of the academy's honor code.
Santos wouldn't say how many cadets are involved, saying that doing so could hurt the investigation.
Cadets found guilty of cheating could face expulsion.
Dean of Academics Kurt Colella says the academy will have to decide whether the misconduct is serious enough to keep the students from serving successfully as Coast Guard officers.
Colella says investigators will determine the most appropriate way to resolve the issue with each individual cadet.
