White House overhauls background checks for government workers

WASHINGTON (Reuters) - The White House said on Friday it was updating the federal government's procedures for performing background checks on its employees and contractors.

As a part of the changes, the White House said it will establish a new government agency to handle federal background checks, the National Background Investigations Bureau.
