(Reuters) - The Las Vegas Strip was closed to traffic on Friday evening as police investigated an officer-involved shooting in front of the Bellagio Hotel and Casino, law enforcement said.
Details of the shooting were not immediately clear and it was unknown if anyone was wounded or killed. According to local media witnesses reported hearing gunshots near the Bellagio's exterior fountain.
The Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department said Las Vegas Boulevard, known as the Strip, would likely be closed for several hours and it urged people to avoid the area.
The Las Vegas Strip, lined with dozens of casinos and restaurants, is typically packed with cars and pedestrians on Friday nights.
