(Reuters) - Threats of mass shootings and bombs were phoned in to at least nine schools in New Jersey on Tuesday, forcing evacuations or lockdowns, NBC reported authorities as saying.

Officials at schools in Teaneck, Garfield, Tenafly, Clifton, Fair Lawn, Leonia, Bergenfield, Englewood and Hackensack received threats by someone who claimed to have planted a bomb, NBC said. Reuters could not independently confirm the reports.
