NEW YORK (AP) — New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio (dih BLAH'-zee-oh) has been discharged from a hospital after undergoing surgery for a hernia.
De Blasio's spokeswoman, Karen Hinton, says the mayor's surgery on Friday was a success.
She said the 54-year-old mayor had developed a hernia and suffered some pain. Hinton said a doctor told him it was time to deal with the issue before it worsened.
The surgery was an outpatient procedure.
De Blasio is now resting at Gracie Mansion and will return to City Hall on Monday.
