USGS reports 6.1 quake southwest of Kuril Islands

WASHINGTON (Reuters) - The U.S. Geological Survey reported a magnitude 6.1 earthquake about 200 miles (322 kilometers) southwest of Russia's Kuril Islands.

The quake, which occurred 53 miles (85 km) below the Earth's surface, is likely to have little impact.
