MOGADISHU (Reuters) - A large blast was heard in the Somali capital on Sunday, sending a plume of smoke into the air, and was followed by the sound of gunfire, a Reuters witness reported.

The wail of ambulance sirens could be heard near the scene in Mogadishu after the incident, the witness added.

There were no immediate details, but the Islamist militant group al Shabaab has often launched bomb and gun attacks in Mogadishu.
