Tornado touches down in central Texas, heads toward population center

AUSTIN, Texas (Reuters) - A tornado touched down in central Texas on Friday and was heading toward the city of San Marcos, weather forecasters said.

There were no immediate reports of injuries or damage from the tornado that also had Interstate 35, a major corridor for north-south transport in the country, on its path.

The tornado first touched down near Zorn, about 40 miles southwest of Austin.
