AMSTERDAM (Reuters) - An arbitration court in the Netherlands said on Thursday it has jurisdiction to hear some territorial claims the Philippines filed against China over disputed parts of the South China Sea.
A statement issued by the Hague-based tribunal said additional hearings would be held to decide the merits of the Philippines' arguments.
China has not participated in the proceedings and does not recognize the court's authority in the case.
