WASHINGTON (AP) — President Barack Obama says Democratic presidential candidates showed in their debate that the party is largely unified on the economy, climate change and other big issues.
Obama says he watched some of Tuesday's debate but was flipping between that and baseball playoff games. He says he was impressed by the candidates but isn't yet taking sides.
Looming over the Democratic field is the chance that Vice President Joe Biden will make a late entry into the race. The president calls Biden "very able" but won't comment on the vice president's future plans.
Asked at a news conference whether it's too late for Biden to launch a credible campaign, Obama says that like every candidate, Biden has to decide for himself whether it makes sense to run.
