(Reuters) - Officials in North Charleston, South Carolina, have reached a $6.5 million settlement with the family of Walter Scott, the unarmed black man whom a bystander video tapped being shot in the back by a white police officer, the Washington Post reported on Thursday.

The newspaper cited the Scott family. Scott was shot in March after fleeing a traffic stop.
