MILWAUKEE (Reuters) - Two people were killed and three injured early Wednesday when the vehicle they were traveling in crashed while they were being chased by a sheriff's deputy in southern Wisconsin, police said.
The driver and front-seat passenger were killed and three passengers riding in the back were injured and taken to hospitals, the Watertown Police Department said in a statement.
Police have not released the identity of the driver or passengers or said why a Jefferson County Sheriff's deputy was pursuing the vehicle when it struck a tree in Watertown, Wisconsin, about 50 miles (80 km) west of Milwaukee.
The crash happened at about 2:15 a.m., police said.
