ATHENS (Reuters) - Greek leftist Syriza party is running neck-and-neck with its main conservative rival, the New Democracy party, before a snap election on Sept. 20, according to an opinion poll published on Friday.

Syriza's poll lead has shriveled since its leader, former premier Alexis Tsipras, resigned in August and called for the snap election to win new backing for a bailout program.

The poll by University of Macedonia for Skai television showed that each of the two parties would get 27 percent of the votes.
