UPPER MARLBORO, Md. (AP) — Prosecutors say a White House staffer has been indicted on assault and other charges following a dispute with a U.S. Capitol Police officer at her home.

Prince George's County officials say officers were called to Barvetta Singletary's home in Upper Marlboro, Maryland, Aug. 7 for a reported shooting. Authorities say the 37-year-old Singletary had argued with the Capitol Police officer after a sexual encounter, grabbed his service weapon from a bag and later fired once in his direction. No one was hurt.

Singletary was a special assistant to the president and legislative liaison at the White House. After the shooting, officials said she was put on unpaid leave and her access to the White House revoked.

Singletary's attorney, Rosalyn Pugh, said Tuesday that she doesn't comment on pending cases.
