WASHINGTON (Reuters) - U.S. Secretary of State John Kerry does not agree with Marine Corps General Joseph Dunford that Russia poses an existential threat to the United States, the State Department said on Friday.
State spokesman Mark Toner said U.S. officials have been "very frank" about areas of disagreement, including Russia's actions in Ukraine.
Dunford told lawmakers on Thursday: "If you want to talk about a nation that could pose an existential threat to the United States, I'd have to point to Russia. And if you look at their behavior, it's nothing short of alarming."
