OTTAWA (Reuters) - The Royal Canadian Mounted Police have arrested a Somali national for his alleged role in a 2008 hostage-taking in Somalia of two freelance journalists, Canadian Amanda Lindhout and Australian Nigel Brennan, police announced on Friday.

Ali Omar Ader was arrested in Ottawa on Thursday. Police said his involvement was as a negotiator during the 15 months the journalists were in captivity.
