AUSTIN, Texas (Reuters) - At least two people were killed in Arkansas and another 10 unaccounted for in Texas after a series of tornadoes hit the Great Plains states overnight, local officials said on Monday.
Two people were killed and two others were severely injured by a tornado that hit a trailer park in the western Arkansas county of Howard, according to local authorities.
At least 26 people were injured and 10 adults unaccounted for following a tornado that hit Van Zandt County, Texas, southeast of Dallas, Emergency Management Coordinator and Van Zandt County Fire Marshal Chuck Allen told a news conference, TV broadcaster WFAA reported.
About two dozen tornadoes were reported in a region stretching from Texas to South Dakota from storm systems on Sunday that brought heavy rain, hail, high winds and flooding, the National Weather Service reported.
