Obama to name Marine general to become top U.S. military officer

WASHINGTON (Reuters) - President Barack Obama will nominate the U.S. Marine Corps' top general, Joseph Dunford, to become the next chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff on Tuesday, a White House official said.

In a formal announcement, Obama will also nominate General Paul Selva, currently the commander of the U.S. Transportation Command, as the vice chairman, the official said.
