(Reuters) - The St. Louis, Missouri city hall was evacuated on Tuesday while authorities investigated several suspicious packages, city officials said.

Bomb, arson and canine police units are on the scene, the St. Louis Police Department said on its Twitter account.

Three suspicious items were found - two cylinders and one bag - at three different entrances, the St. Louis Post-Dispatch reported, citing mayoral spokeswoman Maggie Crane. Crane said no threatening statements have been reported to authorities.

Mayor Francis Slay, in a post on Twitter, apologized for any inconvenience from the area's closing.
