MIAMI (AP) — A gold bar stolen in a $5 million armored truck robbery in North Carolina has been recovered by the FBI in South Florida, and authorities suspect a Miami-area connection.
The FBI on Monday released a photo of the 26-pound gold bar, worth up to $500,000. The FBI is seeking the public's help finding other gold bars from the March 1 robbery along Interstate 95 in North Carolina. The FBI is offering a $25,000 reward for information leading to an arrest and charges.
Authorities offered no other details on the bar's recovery.
Robbers stole 275 pounds of gold worth nearly $5 million from the truck, bound for Boston from Miami. The FBI says the robbers identified themselves in Spanish as police before tying the guards' hands and leading them into woods.
