(Reuters) - Eleven people including some children were hospitalized with unspecified injuries on Thursday after a school bus struck two parked cars outside Hartford, Connecticut, local media reported.

Seven ambulances were dispatched to the scene in the town of Wethersfield, according to the media reports.

The accident was deemed a "mass casualty incident," a spokesman for Aetna Ambulance Service told the Hartford Courant newspaper, adding that the designation reflected the number of ambulances dispatched but did not necessarily indicate that the patients' injuries were severe.
