Obama set to appear at annual Gridiron political dinner

WASHINGTON (AP) — President Barack Obama is preparing to skewer some of his political opponents at the 130th annual Gridiron Club dinner.

The white-tie event is bringing Washington journalists and public figures together for a Saturday night of laughter at the expense of the capital's personalities and issues of the day.

Wisconsin Gov. Scott Walker, a likely 2016 presidential candidate, is set to speak for the Republicans.

Virginia Gov. Terry McAuliffe is handling the duties for the Democrats.

The Gridiron is the oldest and most exclusive club for Washington journalists. Every president except Grover Cleveland has addressed the club since it was founded in 1885.

Its motto is "singe but never burn."

Obama last spoke at the dinner in 2013.
