PHOENIX (AP) — A 27-year-old man has been sentenced to 66 years in prison for shooting a Phoenix police officer and a volunteer sheriff's posse member minutes after robbing two strip-club employees of $18,000 by gunpoint.

Roger Sharp was sentenced Friday in Maricopa County Superior Court. He pleaded guilty last month to charges including attempted first-degree murder, aggravated assault and armed robbery.

Authorities say the officer chased Sharp and another suspect after the robbery on New Year's Eve 2014, and the pair crashed their car. The Maricopa County posse member was driving by and helped the officer confront Sharp. Both were shot with the officer's gun during a struggle.

The posse member was hospitalized for six months for his injuries.
