CHARLESTON, W.Va. (AP) — A 50-year-old West Virginia man has pleaded guilty to threatening to kill U.S. Sen. Joe Manchin.

Court records show Steven Anthony Major of Barboursville entered his plea Tuesday in U.S. District Court in Charleston. He faces up to 10 years in federal prison at his sentencing May 27.

Major was accused of making four separate threats against the Democratic West Virginia senator last March. The threats were made in telephone calls to Manchin's Charleston, West Virginia, and Washington offices.

Prosecutors said Major identified himself and also made violent threats against Manchin family members.
