Massachusetts governor criticizes transit storm performance

BOSTON (AP) — Gov. Charlie Baker calls the performance of Boston's public transit system during the severe winter weather "unacceptable."

Baker said Monday he was disappointed and frustrated that the Massachusetts Bay Transportation Authority hadn't been able to maintain even limited service on some rapid transit lines.

On Monday, nearly 50 commuters were evacuated from a disabled train in Quincy after being stranded for more than two hours.

The T said all subway, trolley and commuter rail service would be suspended at 7 p.m. Officials gave no update on plans for Tuesday.

The governor acknowledged that the recent spate of snowfall has been unprecedented and that transit employees have worked hard to keep the system moving.

Baker says he plans to have a "long conversation" with T management after the weather subsides.
