Michigan governor remains hospitalized for blood clot

LANSING, Mich. (AP) — Michigan Gov. Rick Snyder will remain hospitalized into the weekend after doctors discovered a blood clot in his right leg related to an Achilles tendon injury he suffered a month ago.

Snyder's spokeswoman, Sara Wurfel, says the 56-year-old Republican governor was "recovering nicely" Friday and appreciates people's well-wishes.

Snyder was admitted to St. Joseph Mercy Hospital near his Ann Arbor home on Thursday after noticing swelling in his leg.

Snyder will be in the hospital at least part of the weekend. There's no set timeline for his release. Wurfel says Snyder is reviewing the budget proposal he's set to unveil to lawmakers next week.

Snyder tore his Achilles tendon while jogging in Florida when he was on vacation. He's been in a protective boot and using a scooter.
